Rear Window (1954)
Photographer L.B. "Jeff" Jeffries (James Stewart) is, in fact, a voyeur by trade, a professional photographer sidelined by an accident while on assignment. His immersion in the human drama (and comedy) visible from his window is a by-product of boredom, underlined by the disapproval of his girlfriend, Lisa (Grace Kelly), and a wisecracking visiting nurse (Thelma Ritter). Yet when the invalid wife of Lars Thorwald (Raymond Burr) disappears, Jeff enlists the two women to help him to determine whether she's really left town, as Thorwald insists, or been murdered.
Stephen King's Rose Red (2006)
Stephen King's undeniably fun trip through the hoariest of horror movie cliches follows a parapsychologist and a team of psychics as they investigate reports about ghosts living within the walls of an old Seattle mansion called "Rose Red". Fans of old-school horror movies will appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere; newbies won't want to watch it alone.
The Gray Man (2007)
In 1928, ten-year-old Grace Budd vanished from her neighborhood. Police linked the disappearance to Albert Fish (Patrick Bauchau), a seemingly kind, grandfather-like figure who, it turned out, regularly kidnapped, murdered, cooked and ate children...and taunted police by sending the press his "recipes." Based on a true story; best viewed on an empty stomach.
Psycho (1960)
The concept of the film-going public unable to bathe for an extended period is one we'd rather not contemplate, but Alfred Hitchcock's masterwork so traumatized audiences that many opted to avoid the tub so they wouldn't have to relive the infamous murder scene. The Vampire Diary (2007)
While making a documentary, filmmaker Holly meets the highly enigmatic and beautiful Vicki who claims she is a real-life vampire. Fascinated and attracted to her, Holly thinks that Vicki could be her soul mate and soon the two embark on a passionate affair. However Vicki's lust for blood is growing and when Holly discovers that Vicki is pregnant with a 'vampire' baby, she is drawn into a spiral of death, deceit and betrayal from which she will never emerge.

Effective Children of the Damned riff produced by horror novelist Clive Barker; if you're in the mood to be thoroughly creeped out, you can't go wrong with any film from the Killer Kids subgenre. The Vanguard (2008)
Ambitious, brainy take on the post-apocalyptic zombie genre. Max (Ray Bullock Jr.) survives a corporation’s attempt to rid the world of undesirables through the development of a deadly drug. The scheme backfires, creating armies of killer zombies that threaten to wipe out mankind—forcing hatchet-wielding Max to fight for his survival.
